FAQ

What is Organic?

Organic means that the crop has been grown and harvested without the use of pesticides, fertlizers, radiation, sewage sludge, or any other chemicals and does not contain genetically modified ingredients. Organic Olive Oil, for example, came from olives that were grown without the use of the above mentioned chemicals and was not extracted (into Olive Oil) using solvents such as hexane. Organic farming methods are beneficial to personal health and the environment. Many ingredients used in our products are certified organic. As part of our commitment to safety and purity, we do not use synthetic ingredients of any kind. All ingredients are minimally processed using non-toxic methods.

What is Natural?

While most of us would consider something as “natural” if it is derived from nature and devoid of chemicals, there is currently no FDA standard on the word “natural.” This means a company can call their product “natural” although the product contains synthetic ingredients. The best way to avoid using an “unnatural” product is to read the ingredients label.

What is the difference between Essential Oils & Fragrance Oils?

Essential Oils:

Essential Oils are the aromatic essence extracted from a plant, shrub, tree, seed, stem, flower, leaves, bark, and root. The essential oils used by Blue Marble Body Care are extracted through steam distillation and cold pressing methods. Essential oils impart the therapeutic properties from the plant in which they are extracted from and are have been used for centuries to promote health and mental wellness. Blue Marble Body Care only uses essential oils to scent our products.

Fragrance Oils:

Fragrance Oils are synthetic and chemically formulated aromas that are used in most conventional skincare. Many of the chemicals found in fragrance oils are known irritants and allergens. On the ingredients label of a product, fragrances are listed as “fragrance,” “parfum,” or “perfume.” Blue Marble Body Care products do not contain any synthetic fragrances.

What is the shelf-life of your products?

Our products do not contain the synthetic preservatives in conventional skincare products. Studies report that these preservatives are often linked to a variety of health issues. We therefore use plant extracts to prolong the shelf life of our products. When stored in COOL and DRY places, the shelf life of our products are:

Botanical Bar & Liquid Soap: 1 to 2 years. As it is exposed to air, the strength of the essential oil will decrease overtime. For bar soaps, this will be true for the outer part of the soap. Once you begin to use your bar soap, however, the aroma will reemerge.

Will you introduce products scented with peaches, mangoes, or melons?

Unfortunately, there are no essential oils for most fruits. In fact, citrus fruits are the only fruits that produce essential oils on the market. Other fruit aromas come in “fragrance” form which we do not use because they are synthetically and chemically-formulated.
